Hotpot + DVD

Hotpot + DVD

The only proper way to finish off a day of walking up and down streets is of course to eat hotpot.

Being a good foreigner in this town we added a DVD to that: Kung Fu Hustle. The sound didn't work, so we ended up watching Chungking Express instead. I finally got to see this movie. Somehow always imagined that movie taking place on a train. I don't know where I got that from, there wasn't the tiniest train involved.

I'm pretty confused by the name of this movie too, it has nothing to do with Chongqing (Chungking) either. However, most English name of Chinese (esp Hongkongese) movies carry pretty different meaning from the original name and this one is no exception. I can't explain why Senlin(forest) is Express here. But again, it remains one of my favourite movies, the reason I can't explain either, perhaps it's just the music, the pace, the natural performance of the pretty actors and actresses that got me.

Good movie though. One movie, two separate stories. I liked it. Was nice to watch with you.
